BUSES, TRAINS AND TAXIS

Public transport in the Algarve

Buses, Trains and Taxis

The Algarve offers a limited network of bus and train routes. Trains depart from Faro city (not the airport) to Lagos where you can catch a connecting bus or taxi to Praia da Luz (around 10 minutes). Buses run from the airport to Lagos in high season only. Taxis are more plentiful in the region but it is recommended to pre-book a transfer or car hire before arrival.

All taxis operate from official taxi ranks and you cannot flag down on the street. You can call and agree a pick-up point

They are reasonably priced and tips are customary. Praia da Luz to Lagos is around 12€ to the taxi rank

There is a Taxi rank at the bus stop at the Church square.  Ask the approximate cost before getting into the taxi!

Ordering a taxi in advance is advisable as they are busy in summer and limited in winter from the rank.  If it is a Lagos company they will charge you to come from Lagos!
